How do we rate trails easy, moderate, and difficult you might be asking?
- First if the National Forest, State, County, or any other municipality who owns the land has rated the trails, we just use that one.
- If no ratings exist than we go with our gut based on what we thought when we hiked, mountain biked, skied, or snowshoed the trail.
- What’s with the colors, especially orange for the easy trails? The Green, Blue, Black trail difficulty system drawn from downhill skiing is pretty widely understood so we went with that except that we switched the green to orange because we were having a hard time getting the green lines to show up on our maps.
